Join in with NHS70 celebrations

Dorset County Hospital is asking for help from local people to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS this year.

The National Health Service turns 70 on 5 July 2018, offering the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of one of the nation's most loved institutions.

As part of the local celebrations the hospital is hoping to find people who were born in Dorchester on 5 July 1948 so they can be invited to a celebratory event. The hospital is also keen to collect copies of old photographs for social media and a display.

DCH Communications Manager Susie Palmer said: "As part of the celebrations happening locally we are trying to track down people who were born at Dorset County Hospital on 5 July 1948 so we can invite them to a special tea party to mark the occasion.

"If you were born in Dorchester on that date or know someone who was please do get in touch so we can invite people to join in with our celebrations.

"We are also collecting old photos of Dorset County Hospital and our staff from over the decades.

"It would be brilliant if current and former staff could have a rummage in their lofts for photographs of themselves and colleagues from days gone by so we can share them and show how much the NHS has changed, especially uniforms!"

Anyone who can help with tracking down people born on the birthday date or providing photos can get in touch with Susie Palmer at DCH on 01305 254683 or
