Here is just a sample of some of the equipment and projects charitable donations have funded recently:
Ward sister Helen Belmont from Prince of Wales Ward with the Sonosite ultrasound. The sonosite was purchased by the Charity and is used by our renal doctors to enable them to perform clinical procedures such as renal biopsies which is an important diagnostic tool. The sonosite can also be used for line insertions so patients have access to life saving dialysis. The new model shown is technologically advanced which increases the safety for patients and allows excellent clinical governance.
The charity also purchased an ECG machine, which records patient's heart rhythms, for the Prince of Wales Ward. The purchase of this new machine has improved the experience of patients, reducing delays and allowing the best possible care for patients.
The transformation of the nurses station and Day Room on Barnes Ward was funded by the Friends of DCH. The reconfiguration transformed the busy nurses' station into a welcoming lounge area, and made a room full of reminiscences out of the existing Day room. We now plan to do the same for Purbeck Ward especially for those patients with Dementia.
Andrew Rees pictured working on one of our many research trials. Equipment purchased by the charity has enhanced research at Dorset County Hospital (DCH). There are now over 100 research trials at DCH. Help us fund innovative research at DCH. Call our office to find out more: 01305 253470.
