Background:
• Research into Cellular Electrophysiology of Heart Failure and Cardiac Hypertrophy, Extensive General Cardiology Experience at Hillingdon, St Mary’s and National Heart and Chest Hospitals, London Chest Hospital – member of team that introduced elective coronary stenting to UK.
• Set up full Cardiology Service at DCH starting in 1993 as first Cardiologist in the trust, continuing development of service now as clinical lead for Dorset County Cardiac Centre.
• Clinical Lead Pan-Dorset Cardiac Network

Dr Javed Iqbal

Qualifications:
• MBBS, King Edward Medical University, Lahore
• MRCP, UK, 1994
• FRCP, London and Glasgow, 2007
• FACC, 2007

Background:
• Graduated from Lahore. Post graduation from UK.
• Clinical Training in Lahore and UK (North West of England)
• Intervention Cardiology training in UK and Saudi
• Working as Interventional Cardiologist since 2000
• Moved to Dorset in August 2007

Special interests:
• Coronary angioplasty and stenting

New treatments introduced:
• Started coronary angioplasty and stenting programme at DCH

Dr Fraser Witherow

Qualifications:
• MB ChB Edinburgh 1994
• MRCP Edinburgh 1998
• MD with distinction Edinburgh 2006
• Trained as registrar in Edinburgh and as Interventional Fellow in Amsterdam

Background:
• Clinical lead for percutaneous coronary intervention in Dorset County Hospital Foundation NHS Trust. Trained in the use of all percutaneous coronary devices and treatments and leading expert on new coronary treatments for revascularisation.

Special interests:
• Coronary angioplasty and stenting.
• Angina and acute coronary syndromes

New treatments:
• Introduced the service of percutaneous coronary intervention. Pioneered angioplasty as a day-case procedure. Setting up a primary angioplasty service for treatment of heart attacks.

Dr Tim Edwards

Qualifications:

Background:
• Specialist cardiology training in Wessex
• Clinical Fellowship in Devices and Electrophysiology, Monash Medical Centre, Melbourne
• DCH consultant since 2000
• Clinical lead for arrhythmia and device therapy

Special interests:
• Cardiac resynchronisation therapy and implantable defibrillators (complex device therapy)
• Transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography
• Heart failure
• Arrhythmia and pacemakers

New treatments:
• Complex pacing and implantable defibrillators
• Pacemaker and angiography service
• Transoesophageal echocardiography

Dr Julian Boullin

Qualifications: 
• MB BS Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School, London 1997
• MRCP Royal College of Physicians, London 2002 
• DM Southampton University 2008
• Specialist cardiology training in Wessex and London

Background: 
• Special interest is cardiac rhythm management, device therapy and sudden cardiac death.
• Performs catheter ablation for all types of arrhythmias.
• Implants pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs), loop recorders and biventricular pacemakers.
• Consultant Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist since 2011.
• Previously set up the Electrophysiology & ablation service in Norfolk, at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.
• Also worked at the Barts Heart Centre the largest ablation center in the UK.
• Relocated back to the south coast in 2017.
• Arrhythmia Clinical lead at Dorset County Hospital.

• Arrhythmias
• Atrial Fibrillation
• Catheter ablation of arrhythmias
• Pacemaker, Defibrillator and CRT device therapy
• Sudden Cardiac Death

New treatments: 
• Introduced a dedicated arrhythmia service at the Dorset County Hospital, also providing catheter ablation which Dr Boullin performs in the regional center at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
