Breast Care Nurses

Lorraine Sers and Anne Saunders are the two Macmillan Breast Care nurses based at Dorset County Hospital. Their primary role is to provide information and guidance to women and men with breast disease, although the main focus of our work centres around patients with breast cancer.

They attend the symptomatic breast clinics, run clinics for prosthesis fittings, and provide support and information. The nurses also visit patients in Chemotherapy and during their in–patient stay.

There are five breast cancer support groups within the area, which are all self managed and include a young persons group. All groups meet monthly and the breast care nurses attend all meetings regularly.

A yearly education evening is also managed and organised by the nurses for Healthcare Professionals from primary and secondary care on various topics relating to breast care in the West Dorset area.

Telephone support and advice is available during the working week on 01305 255160.
