Renal Dialysis

The Dorset Renal Unit opened in April 1996 and is a county–wide service serving a population of over 700,000.
The main unit is based at Dorset County Hospital, where there is an Acute Admissions Ward, a Haemodialysis Unit and a department in charge of patients on home peritoneal dialysis (CAPD and APD). Also, there are Satellite Haemodialysis Units based at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Poole and another based in Yeovil. Renal transplants are carried out at the Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
Outpatient clinics are held at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Poole Hospital and here at Dorset County Hospital, seeing approximately 170 patients each week.
