Ultrasound

An ultrasound scanner sends sound waves through the body. These waves are reflected by the body and these reflected waves are converted to images that can be viewed on a screen. A gel is applied over the region to be scanned. This gel reduces the amount of air between the skin and the sound head, and also the friction between them.
In addition to general ultrasound scans we also provide scans to help date pregnancies and also to diagnose a wide variety of foetal abnormalities. Use of the ultrasound has revolutionised the care of pregnant women. Doppler scans are also offered to study arteries and veins of the body.
