Surgical Admission Lounge

This unit opened at Dorset County Hospital to make coming in for an operation less stressful for patients.

The Surgical Admission Lounge is located on Level 1 of South Wing and is accessed through the Orthopaedic Outpatients Department.

Traditionally, patients having planned surgery other than Day Surgery operations have had to come into hospital the day before and stay overnight. thanks to this new facility patients do not have to come in until the morning of the day of their surgery when nurses in the Surgical Admission Lounge carry out all the necessary pre–operation checks.

The Surgical Admission Lounge opens to patients at 7am each week day.
