Urology Nurse Service
The role of the Urology Nurse Specialists and Urology Nurses is to provide support and counselling to patients undergoing urology investigations and surgery.
The Urology Nurses are trained nurses with many years of experience in different nursing areas. Each nurse now specialises in urological disease, uro–oncology and surgery.
The service includes
- Giving time to talk;
- Pre– and post–operative care;
- Discussing treatment and side effects;
- Counselling;
- Support main urology clinic;
- Teaching and research;
- Talks to multidisciplinary groups;
- Providing information and leaflets;
- Support groups.
Nurse–led clinics:
- Trial without catheter (TWOC)
- Intermittent self catheterisation (ISC)
- Erectile dysfunction (ED)
- Urodynamics
- Urine flow studies (UFS)
- Bladder chemotherapy
- Bladder instillations
- Flexible cystoscopy for suveillance of bladder cancer

The service is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm. There is a 24 hour voicemail service for non–urgent calls.
