Day Lewis Ward

Day Lewis Ward at Dorset county hospital is a 23–bed acute medical ward for older people. We care for male and female patients and the accommodation is arranged in single sex bays or single cubicles dependent upon your condition and needs. The washing and toilet facilities are also single sex.

All staff wear name badges and will introduce themselves. You will have a named nurse who will co-ordinate your care during your stay.

We request that you bring in nightclothes, supportive footwear, day clothes, toiletries and any medications you currently take when you are admitted or that family or friends supply these as soon as possible.

We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have about the ward and the care we provide.

Our philosophy

We believe that each individual has the right to the highest standards of care that we can provide. The patient remains in control of decision making throughout their stay. The nurse’s role is one of skilled helper and advisor, sharing information to enable individuals to make their own decisions about all aspects of their care. Staff, patients and visitors should be treated with equal respect.
