Meet our Vascular Consultant
Mr Alex Watson Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon MBBS FRCS MSc
Alex trained at St. Georges Hospital London before completing basic general surgical training in Kent. He went on to undertake research into the effects of reperfusion injury following Aortic aneurysm repair at Northwick Park hospital and then completed his higher surgical and vascular training in the south west.
In order to pursue his interest in endovenous therapies he was appointed a senior vascular and endovascular fellowship at the nationally renowned Freeman Hospital vascular unit in Newcastle and was subsequently asked to take up a consultant post there. Alex returned to the south in 2013 with his young family to assume the post of consultant vascular & endovascular surgeon at the Dorset County hospital, part of the Dorset and Wiltshire Vascular Network. As part of this network he undertakes major arterial and emergency surgery at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and renal access and venous surgery at the Dorset County hospital alongside vascular, renal, venous and diabetic foot clinics.
Working In concert with the other consultants of the Dorset and Wiltshire Vascular Network along with their radiologists and associated specialists the team continually strive to be champions for excellence and innovation for all their patients.
