Cardiology Department

The Cardiology Department at Dorset County Hospital has well established coronary interventional, devices, arrhythmia and heart failure services. Our department has a strong reputation for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of heart conditions.

Building on its success and in order to meet increasing demands for the department services, further expansion of specialist services has been made to enable optimal care of our cardiac patients in their local hospital.

The Cardiology Department is located on South Wing Level 2. It is on the left on walking in via the South Wing entrance. 

If you are unsure of how to find us, staff at the main reception desk, or one of our hospital volunteers will be able to assist you.

We are available Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) between 9am and 5pm.

Our services

Cardiac Rhythm Management 
The Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) team cares for patients with or suspected of having a variety of heart rhythm problems – arrhythmias. More information is available on the Cardiac Rhythm Management page.

Cardiac Physiology Service
Cardiac Physiology is a key component of the Cardiology Department providing scientific, clinical, and technical knowledge and expertise to the Cardiology service. It comprises of a team of highly skilled healthcare scientists specialising in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of patients living with, or suspected of having, cardiac disease. Coronary heart disease (CHD), angioplasty and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
Dorset County Hospital provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for all aspects and presentations of coronary heart disease. More information is available on the Coronary Heart Disease page.

Heart Failure Service
The Heart Failure Service is a specialist team of doctors and heart failure nurses based at Dorset County Hospital with specific experience and training in the management, treatment and care of people with a diagnosis of heart failure.
