​Free, Confidential On-site Counselling

This service is available to all DCH staff six days a week, Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm and Saturday mornings.


The meetings can either be held face-to-face or via Zoom. Face-to-face meetings will be held in the meeting room inside the doors of Fortuneswell Ward. This room allows for social distancing and privacy.

Saturday afternoon and Sunday appointments can be made available, just call 01202 830247.

Ian Smith is a BACP registered counsellor who runs his own practice (http://wellbeingpractice.co.uk/therapist/). He can offer support with any concerns, anxiety or emotional stress you may have.

There will be three 50 minute appointment slots available daily. Bookings can be made direct via the Wellbeing Practice website: www.anxietyassist.co.uk/dchClick here for more information.

Ian will be on site regardless of bookings, so will also be able to offer drop-in sessions subject to availability. There will be clear signage on the room door so staff will know if Ian is with a client.

We will review the timings of the sessions regularly to ensure that they are meeting staff needs. This service is completely confidential. Attendance of sessions will never be reported to your employer or anyone without your express consent. Ian adheres to the BACP code of ethics which includes confidentiality.
