Background
I was appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the Plastic Surgery Unit in Salisbury in 1996. I was initially responsible for developing the breast reconstruction service in Portsmouth, and the newly forming Cleft Lip and Palate Unit in Salisbury and Oxford. I have established a busy aesthetic surgery practice on the South Coast.
My main aims are to develop training programs for aesthetic surgery and also to establish means for measuring clinical quality and outcomes, to help drive up standards in this rapidly expanding field. I have done a lot of research and published widely on the measurement of aesthetic outcomes and patient related outcome measures in cleft lip and aesthetic surgery.
I have, after taking on positions of responsibility in the region, become very involved in training and education in Aesthetic surgery, and was elected President of the national association that covers all aesthetic plastic surgery in the UK in 2014 – the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).
