Cardiology Department

The Cardiology Department at Dorset County Hospital has well established coronary interventional, devices, arrhythmia and heart failure services. Our department has a strong reputation for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of heart conditions to the patients of West Dorset and beyond. 

Building on its success and in order to meet increasing demands for the department services, further expansion of specialist services has been made to enable optimal care of our cardiac patients in their local hospital.

The Cardiology Department is located on South Wing Level 2. It is on the left on walking in via the South Wing entrance.

Cardiac Rhythm Management 

The Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) team cares for patients with or suspected of having a variety of heart rhythm problems - arrhythmias.

Cardiac Physiology Service

The Non-invasive Cardiology Department is managed by a team of highly skilled technicians/physiologists and provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic services including Electrocardiography (ECG), Exercise Testing, Echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart), and ECG monitoring.

Coronary Heart Disease, Angioplasty and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)

Dorset County Hospital provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for all aspects and presentations of Coronary Heart Disease.
