The Endoscopy Unit at Dorset County Hospital sees around 130 patients per week for endoscopic examinations and therapeutic procedures of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, billiary system, colon, bladder and lung.

An endoscope is a flexible tube of varying lengths with a video chip on the end which allows a live video image to be seen on a screen.

The unit is open from 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday and also operates an emergency 24hour GI bleed service.
