Endoscopy

Updated 9 July 2021

Core opening times are Monday to Friday 8am - 6.30pm

The Endoscopy Department is located at Dorset County Hospital, North Wing Level 1, and is managed by Family Services and Surgical Division. The department delivers care by providing an outpatient and inpatient service for patients who require treatment for gastrointestinal, respiratory conditions either electively or as an emergency. The department also supports training of medical and non-medical endoscopists. The multidisciplinary team will facilitate the delivery of patient focused care and offer emotional support as required.

The department consists of three endoscopy rooms allowing thirty sessions per 5 day week, including 1.5 bronchoscopy sessions run by the Respiratory Team

The Joint Advisory Group (JAG) on Gastrointestinal (GI) Endoscopy is responsible for accrediting endoscopy units in the UK. The accreditation involves annual data review and a visit every three years.
