Ridgeway Ward

Updated 26 September 2023

Our Ridgeway Ward is currently being refurbished. Patients who would normally be treated on this ward are being cared for in the Portesham Unit, which is the modular building in front of North Wing. The phone number remains the same.

Ridgeway Ward is part of the Musculoskeletal Directorate at Dorset County Hospital. The ward has 30 beds which are used to care for patients who are coming into hospital for elective (routine) orthopaedic or spinal surgery.

The ward is located on Level 2 of North Wing. When you enter the hospital by Entrance North 1, take the stairs directly in front of you or use the lift situated to the right of the stairs.

Ridgeway Ward is designed in bays (rooms with a small number of beds) arranged around a nursing station. We look after both male and female patients, but the accommodation is arranged as single sex with separate toilet and washing facilities. Your privacy will be maintained at all times.

A team of nurses will be looking after you each day. They will be responsible for your care while you are with us.

Please do not hesitate to speak with the Nurse in Charge if you wish to raise any concerns. You can also ask to speak with the Sister or Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse.
