Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is the standard to which all research is conducted.
All clinical research projects conducted at DCHFT must have a named Principal Investigator (PI) with a valid GCP certificate (within two years). Courses are available, provided by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
All members of the Research Department are also GCP trained, and anyone with any role in a research study should be trained in GCP proportionate to the role they are undertaking in the projects. It is recommended that all staff involved in research are GCP trained with a valid certificate (within two years).
There are also legal requirements for GCP training on Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPS) as set out in the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research, developed by the Health Research Authority.
A guide to accessing online training
First of all you will need to create an account with the NIHR.
Creating your account:
- This is the link to access the CRN Learn website: http://learn.nihr.ac.uk/login/index.php
- First time visitors will need to click on create account.
- Complete the general information form and tick the T’s and C’s box.
- Click Skip ORCHID iD verification
- You will then receive an account verification email. Follow the instructions in the email. This will finalise your account.
You can now log in using your new details.
Online GCP training
Course selection:
- Select GCP Online from the titles bar (below the home tab).
- Select the correct GCP training course for you.
- Introduction - Introduction to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) eLearning (for those that have not done GCP training before, or have not done it for a while)
